Brexit

Leaving the EU means there are a number of changes taking place that will affect businesses, citizens, EU citizens living in the UK and UK nationals living in the EU.

Darlington Borough Council is working with partner organisations to make sure everyone is prepared for these changes and can access support to help them overcome any issues.

Businesses that trade with the EU have been advised to be aware of possible changes to rules around exporting/importing goods to the EU, transporting goods by road, and exporting services to the EU.

Other areas businesses should consider, if they haven’t already, are:

New import/export/transportation documentation

New tariffs, duties and VAT rates

EU employees working in the UK - UK employees working in the EU

Data protection and intellectual property

Operating in the EU and standards for goods

Funding

Procurement

UK-EU business travel

Third party preparations
